Since 1990, TAOS has organized educational meetings as a satellite event to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  

    

    

      The format of these meetings was designed to include:  lectures of guest speakers on one theme or another related to ophthalmology, free papers related to ophthalmology and visual science, and other miscellaneous presentations related to social, educational and political issues.  

  

  

      

    

The annual business session and social activities are also included in the meetings.
